No, Kumar Sanu was not a actor but a singer. He sang many songs in many superhit movies. These movies often did not do very well in the box office but sold several million copies of cassettes.

You see in 1990s, it was the age before Internet and audio cassettes sold in large numbers. Sadak was a movie released in 1991. Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhat played the lead roles. Mahesh Bhatt was the director. The movie did quite well in the box office. The music album sold 5 million units.
